Installation Instructions for Contractors
Please follow these guidelines for successful window and door installations:
01Preparation
- Verify the rough opening dimensions and ensure they comply with the specified product size and tolerance.
- Inspect the opening for level, plumb, and square. Correct any irregularities before installation.
02Flashing & Weatherproofing
- Apply proper flashing tape or membrane to the sill and sides of the opening to prevent water infiltration.
- Ensure a continuous weather barrier is maintained between the window frame and the building envelope.
03Setting the Unit
- Carefully position the window or door into the opening, ensuring it is centered and properly aligned.
- Use shims as necessary to maintain level and plumb without forcing or twisting the frame.
04Securing the Frame
- Anchor the frame using corrosion-resistant fasteners according to manufacturer guidelines, typically through the reinforced steel sections for added strength.
- Avoid over-tightening to prevent frame distortion.
05Sealing & Insulation
- Apply low-expansion spray foam or insulation around the frame to fill gaps, taking care not to bow the frame.
- Seal the exterior perimeter with high-quality, weather-resistant caulk to ensure an airtight, watertight fit.
06Hardware & Final Adjustments
- Install hardware components and check all operational functions, including locking mechanisms and tilt & turn features.
- Adjust as necessary for smooth operation and optimal security.
07Cleanup & Inspection
- Remove protective films and clean the glass and frames with manufacturer-approved products.
- Conduct a final inspection with the client or site supervisor to confirm satisfaction.
